Man Utd timescale on Sofyan Amrabat transfer emerges as Ten Hag eyes reunion

Manchester United are set to step up their efforts to make their fourth summer signing as Erik ten Hag eyes a reunion at Old Trafford with Sofyan Amrabat. The Fiorentina midfielder is the Dutchman’s next target after the club agreed a £72million deal for Rasmus Hojlund and reports suggest the Premier League club will make their interest official with an opening bid in the coming days. The Morocco international has been linked with a switch to United after it emerged he would not be signing a new deal with the Serie A club. His current deal expires in 2024 and with no renewal on the horizon, United are yet to submit an official offer for Amrabat despite speculation in Italy suggesting they had already held talks with the Serie A club. However, Fabrizio Romano reports a deal will be ‘discussed next week’, with the Italians expecting to raise £38.7m (€45m) from his sale. United are hoping to strike a cut-price deal, though, as he has entered the final 10 months of his contract. Sofyan Amrabat: The Moroccan is a Man Utd target. Amrabat could be the final piece in the puzzle to bolster their midfield options, with Fred and Scott McTominay made available for transfer. Amrabat has courted interest from Barcelona and Liverpool after a stellar performance at the World Cup with Morocco, helping the African nation become the first from their continent to reach the semi-finals for the first time. But the opportunity to link up with his former coach Ten Hag could prove to be the difference. Amrabat played under Ten Hag earlier in his career when the pair were both at FC Utrecht in the Netherlands, and it was under the Dutchman that his career took off before he earned a move to Dutch giants Feyenoord in 2017.
