Tory-led councils LOSE High Court bid to stop Sadiq Khan’s ULEZ expansion

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan plans to expand the Ulez zone to cover the whole of the capital from August 29 to boost air quality

Five Tory-led councils have LOST their High Court bid to stop Sadiq Khan’s controversial plan to extend London’s ultra-low emissions zone.

In a “landmark” ruling on Friday, Mr Justice Swift dismissed the councils’ case and said he was “satisified” the proposals were in the London Mayor’s “powers”.

The judge said that that while City Hall’s consultation on the scrappage scheme was “not in depth” – but, crucially, was “lawful”.

The legal action was launched by five Tory-led councils seeking to stop the Mayor of London’s plan to extend Ulez to all the capital’s boroughs from August.
