‘Absolute diamond’ Ben Cann, 20, was “ecstatic” to learn that he was expecting a baby girl before he was involved in a fatal crash and died from his injuries three weeks later
A young dad-to-be had discovered the gender of his unborn child just 30 minutes he was involved in a fatal car crash.
Ben Cann, 20, was “ecstatic” to learn that he was expecting a baby girl in December and chose to share the special moment with his family at a gender reveal party on Sunday, July 2. Surrounded by his loved ones, Ben popped a balloon to reveal pink confetti, which signified that he was expecting a little girl.
But just 30 minutes later, the 20-year-old was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Northumbrian Way, in Killingworth. He sadly died in hospital on Monday, July 24 â three weeks after the collision occurred.
Ben’s mum Judith Cann, said: “When he popped the balloon and found out that he was having a girl he was ecstatic. I got the moment on video. He had left his gender reveal 20 minutes before the crash.”
