First-time mum Jenna Wellington gave birth to baby Theo by caesarean section, with the infant coming in at a whopping 13lb and 5oz – thought to be one of the biggest babies born in Wales
A British mum has given birth a baby weighing a whopping 13lbs – saying she and her partner were left stunned at his size.
Jenna Wellington thinks she may have given birth to one of Wales’ biggest ever babies after her son, Theo, was born earlier this month. The newborn tipped the scales at a stunning 13lb and 5oz and, at three weeks, is already wearing clothes for six-month-olds.
Jenna, 26, and partner Jordan, 27, welcomed Theo, who is their first child, after being induced on July 4. The new mum was already two weeks overdue, and said she suspected her son would be big – “but not that big”.
Theo was delivered by caesarean section after a gruelling 16-hour labour. “It was quite a difficult labour, and I lost so much blood,” Jenna told Wales Online. “Because I had a caesarean and I was out of it, it didn’t hit me until I actually held him. I didn’t have any growth scans so I didn’t know how big he would be.
