Sarina Wiegman insists she is not afraid to change in her quest for World Cup glory.
The Dutch coach landed the Euros on the back of a settled XI as the Lionesses set the country jumping last year. That has been a consistent theme throughout her international career – she followed a similar path in two major tournaments when in charge of the Netherlands.
In total, she’s chosen just five different players across two European Championships and one World Cup. Evidence shows that England’s goals are drying up – they have not scored one in open play in their last four games – and options are available to swap and change her front three.
When asked about her own ruthlessness in selection ahead of Friday’s game against Denmark, she said: “If I’m more likely to make changes, it doesn’t have anything to do with that. It’s because I want to make changes.
