 Prosecutors have reportedly told former President Donald Trump's lawyers to expect an indictment in an investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Trump's attorneys Todd Blanche and John Lauro sat down with prosecutors in special counsel Jack Smith's office, three sources told NBC News on Thursday morning. Prosecutors told Trump's lawyers to expect an indictment, two of the sources said. The development comes nine days after Trump announced that he received a letter from Smith stating that he is a target in the investigation, and expects to be arrested and indicted. Smith criminally charged Trump in June over his alleged mishandling of classified documents that he took with him from the White House to Mar-a-Lago. And in April, Trump was criminally charged in the Manhattan district attorney's probe into his alleged role in a hush payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump has pleaded not guilty in both cases, and insisted he is innocent in the 2020 election probe.
