Pride of Britain nominee dies in motorbike crash during 200mph world record attempt

Army veteran and charity fundraiser Martin McConnell was aiming to break the 200mph record at the Terminal Velocity road show at Tibenham Airfield on Sunday morning before he lost his life

A Pride of Britain nominee has tragically died in a 200mph record attempt motorbike crash.

In front of a huge crowd, army veteran and charity fundraiser Martin McConnell was hoping to put on a show and raise some money for good causes.

But the dad in his 50s, sadly died when he came off his turbo charge Suzuki Hayabusa at Terminal Velocity, at Tibenham Airfield, in Norwich, on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the airfield around 11am, after he crashed trying to break the 200mph record.
