 Emmerdale nurse Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) has realised perhaps too late that the love of her life is Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw). After months of engaging in a clandestine affair with GP and award-winning mystery author Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), Wendy finally decided that lust and excitement was over-rated and she'd rather be cuddled up on the sofa with Bob listening to Duran Duran. 'Our bubble has popped,' she told Liam sadly in Tuesday (July 25)'s episode as he dropped her off back in the village after what was supposed to be a romantic getaway to Newcastle. It had taken that trip away to make her realise that her heart was back in Emmerdale with Bob. Back at home things were awkward between Bob and Wendy as she was feeling guilty and he was struggling with the fact that he already knew about her affair with Liam. Eventually she couldn't cope with the tension any longer and started to confess. Before she could get very far, Bob shocked her by telling her that he already knew there was no sepsis conference in Newcastle and it had just been a front for her affair. He demanded to know everything, and a tearful Wendy told him that the fling had started out when she and Liam discovered a shared love for murder mysteries. Bob was desperately hurt by her betrayal and her lies, and he threw back the only ammunition he had – that he had almost slept with Bernice (Samantha Giles). He said he'd been sorely tempted, but had stopped himself because of Wendy. 'What we had felt so secure, so perfect,' he told her, making her sob harder at his use of the past tense.
