House Speaker claims president’s family business dealings are an abuse of power not ‘seen since Richard Nixon’
Joe Biden’s family business dealings warrant an impeachment inquiry, the Republican House Speaker said, claiming the US president’s abuse of power was tantamount to that of Richard Nixon.
Kevin McCarthy accused Mr Biden’s administration of stonewalling congressional investigations and claimed they would seek recourse, in the strongest hint yet his party is prepared to try and impeach the president.
The Republican-led House of Representatives has launched a string of investigations into Mr Biden, his administration and his relatives in recent months.
They have honed in on Hunter Biden, amid allegations from two IRS whistleblowers that the president’s son received preferential treatment from the Justice Department over his tax affairs.
