‘I live in world’s most remote village

Salina Alsworth, 25, has lived miles away from civilisation her whole life and has to travel a whopping 200 miles to pick up a takeaway from the closest restaurant

A woman who lives in one of the world’s most remote villages with no shops or restaurants has to fly 200 miles to pick up a takeaway. Salina Alsworth, 25, has lived in Port Alsworth, Alaska, US, her whole life – after her great grandparents, Babe and Mary Alsworth, moved there in the 1940s.

The only way to get to the village is by small aircraft as there are no roads, no supermarkets, no hospitals or pubs and the nearest city, Anchorage, is an hour away. It has a population of just 186, which increases to around 400 during the tourist season.

Salina’s family run the Lake Clark Resort which sees hundreds of visitors flock to the beauty spot every year. Salina’s husband, Jared Richardson, 23, a fishing guide, was one of the many tourists who visit the village.

The pair met while Jared was working on the resort where he will be relocating. After working in Anchorage for a few days, Salina wanted to bring her husband something special when she got home.
