He was found by David and rushed to hospital but ended up surviving with minor injuries. Tonight, Elaine bid a sudden farewell to the Cobbles in a shock twist after rejecting her Tai Chi instructor Gerry. She told Tim and Sally, who she's been living with since splitting from Stephen, that she was going to head to Scarborough to be with her friend for a while. In scenes airing tonight, she bid a farewell to Tim and Sally as they put her in a taxi headed for her new home, for a while at least. It was a surprise exit for Elaine, but understandable given what she has gone through with Stephen. Before she left, she wondered if she should warn Jenny of the kind of man Stephen was - but left before she could say anything. Paula Wilcox - who plays Elaine - previously teased her character could die, but she was spared from Stephen's clasps - for now. Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she said: "If she wanted any more proof, this is certain proof. He's forged her signature on a document which means that if she dies he'll make a lot of money. Then you realise of course, he's been talking about money none stop, telling her, 'Don't sell your house, keep your house, keep your money.
