Greece Rhodes fires LIVE: ‘Indications of arson’ as flights cancelled and Brits flee

Terrified British families have told of dramatic escapes from the Greek island of Rhodes as Greek firefighters say there are ‘indications of arson’ after ‘apocalyptic’ wildfires tore through the popular holiday resort

Greek firefighters have hinted there are “indications of arson” as the cause of the apocalyptic wildfires on the holiday island of Rhodes this weekend.

British families are fleeing Rhodes where terrible wildfires have caused warzone-like conditions this weekend, with dramatic tales of escape coming into The Mirror newsdesk.

Thousands of British holidaymakers have been evacuated from the island – with authorities warning it could get worse today, with 45C heat expected.

The total number of people evacuated or redirected due to the ongoing blaze has reached 19,000, the Greek government has confirmed.
