Rhonda Jewell has been charged with aggravated manslaughter after the baby was left in the car for “at least five hours” as temperatures soared, reaching 56C INSIDE the car
A babysitter has been arrested after a 10-month-old baby died having been left in a car as temperatures soared to 133F (56C) inside the vehicle.
The baby girl was found unresponsive inside a car in a community outside Jacksonville, Florida. 46-year-old Rhonda Jewell has been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child following the infant’s death.
At around 8am on Wednesday morning, July 19, Jewell picked up the baby from the child’s mother’s residence in north Macclenny. She had been the infant’s babysitter since June on multiple occasions.
Jewell then drove to another residence in south Macclenny where she was going to babysit other children as well, police said. However, when she arrived, she went into the house, allegedly forgetting the baby in the car.
