 A man who tried to rape a sleeping woman at a train station said it was 'okay because she wasn't dead'. Amer Mohamed, 31, approached the victim, who he had never met before while she slept at King's Cross Station in London at around 5am on July 23 last year. Mohamed overpowered the woman and continued to try and rape her for half an hour before her friend woke up and intervened. The woman let British Transport Police know about the incident later the same morning at the station. She was later able to identify him and Mohamed was arrested at the scene and taken to custody. When he was questioned by police Mohamed said if someone is asleep it was okay to have sex with them because 'they aren't dead'. He was shown CCTV of the incident, which was captured in its entirety, and claimed he was just 'trying to help [the victim] sleep properly.' 'It is beyond contemptible that he has not only shown a complete lack of remorse for his actions but actively tried to defend himself, claiming on record that it's fine to have sex with someone if they are asleep. 'I will be absolutely clear that it is not and we will work relentlessly to ensure sexual offenders like him are brought before the courts to face the full force of the law. 'I would also like to take this opportunity to commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and supporting our investigation despite being forced by Mohamed to relive her traumatic ordeal in court.
