Zero years of hurt — but Lionesses are still dreaming of World Cup victory

The England manager who led the Lionesses to their first European Championship triumph says it is her “dream” to beat that achievement by winning the women’s World Cup.

As the team prepares to open its campaign against a rancorous background dispute about pay, Sarina Wiegman said her charges were focused on landing the biggest prize in the game.

The tournament, jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia, comes almost a year after the team captivated the country by winning England’s first major football trophy since 1966.
