 A new Walking Dead game has been announced, but it's a social deduction game where you have to work out who's the traitor. The Walking Dead franchise has been around for 20 years now and there have been a ton of video game tie-ins in that time, some based on the TV show(s) and some on the original comic books. As with most adaption,. the majority of the games are pretty bad, but there are some gems in there, such as the early season of the Telltale Games series and, to a lesser degree, the Saints & Sinners VR titles. It's too early to tell which side of the fence new game Betrayal is going to sit, but at least it's something different, as you and up to seven other people battle both zombies and humanity's natural urge to only look out for itself. The trailer below doesn't make it clear why some of the survivors are traitors, and if they're working for another faction, but you can see them not only stealing other players' stuff, when they're not looking, but actively attacking and ambushing them. Betrayal is by Other Ocean Interactive and is very similar to their previous game Project Winter, which is also an eight-player social deduction game, with the same basic art style. A closed beta for Betrayal will be starting on August 10, with early access for all sometime later this year. There's no indication of it being on any formats other than PC, but it'll probably turn up on mobiles at least. 'We're tremendously excited to unveil this latest The Walking Dead experience that fully immerses players with a fresh and unique take on social deception gameplay,' said Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead. 'Partnering with Other Ocean Interactive, true innovators in this game genre, will allow players to experience hordes of deceit and distrust as they struggle to work together to survive and escape.'
