Less than a week later, an attempted burglary occurred at the star's home in the French capital, according to a native media outlet – BFMTV – who claimed they received news of the incident from a police source on Wednesday. The outlet claimed that shortly before 4 o'clock in the morning, noises were heard coming from behind the door by a childhood friend of the late star who was at the home. Reacting to the commotion, police personnel were allegedly dispatched to investigate the scene and noticed potential evidence of an attempted break-in once they got there. According to the news station, they found markings on the front door, pieces of wood scattered on the ground and noted damage had been done to the metal door frame. On hearing the tragic news, Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, tweeted: 'Jane Birkin, the most Parisian of the English has left us.
