After a lovely time out in the northern city, he had been heading back for his lengthy journey down south, when disaster struck. The 38-year-old was hit near the city centre by an e-bike, and the next thing he remembered was waking up in Salford Royal Hospital. He would remain there for four days - and had to be told the horrifying story of how medics had to resuscitate him to save his life. After being hit, Dean suffered extensive injuries, including bleeding on his brain, and fractures. But he's still in the dark about exactly what happened to him, and can't remember much of the incident - even despite the fact police say he spoke to them at the scene. It took place around 6.40pm and he said he had been told he was hit by an electric bike. Dean told the Manchester Evening News: "I can't remember any of the incident itself, it's a complete blackout for me. I was knocked unconscious. "I was up in Manchester for the day from Oxford just seeing a few things. I was planning to make my way home for around 9.30pm but then spent the next four days in hospital. "I've hardly been told anything apart from that police came to the hospital on the same night and that I was hit by an electric bike. I was told my injuries were very bad, they had to do CPR to wake me up, I'm lucky to be alive. "I had some bleeding on the brain, I was told, and a big laceration to my right leg. I'm going to be off work for at least six weeks. My mobility is probably going to be affected for some time. "It really is the last thing you expect after a day out.
