 'It was horrendous, I'm still traumatised by it quite frankly. 'It still upsets me because she was such a religious woman as well.' Watching her mother suffering with Alzheimer's led to Coleen losing her faith herself, as she explained, talking about her mum's 'cruel' death. 'It wasn't [cruel] for my mum because she got to a stage where she didn't know, she didn't know us, she didn't know anything really, and she got the form that made her very aggressive – something which she never was, ever. 'So she just changed into this whole person that you didn't know, but you were desperate for one glimpse of who she used to be. 'She never was, ever, she just changed into this person you didn't know.' The Loose Women panellist, 58, opened up about her biggest fear, after her mother Maureen’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, before her death in 2007.
The presenters had been praising a major Alzheimer’s breakthrough, as a new drug has been found to slow down the progress of the disease.
