Lionesses not worried by David Beckham fear thanks to England’s “natural leader”

England are among the favourites to win this year’s Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand – despite losing Leah Williamson and Beth Mead to serious knee injuries

Millie Bright has one up on David Beckham – she’s been hailed as ‘natural leader’.

The Chelsea centre-half will captain the Lionesses at the upcoming Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in the absence of the injured Leah Williamson. England’s regular skipper suffered a serious knee injury while playing for Arsenal in April.

According to Blues team-mate Niamh Charles, the armband fits comfortably on Bright. Beckham famously claimed he wasn’t born for the leadership role when he was made skipper of the men’s team. But Charles said that Bright can adapt without any problems.

‌She said: “I know exactly what Millie brings as a leader. She’ll drive the team onwards, for sure. She probably does a little less talking but speaks through her actions.
