Science journalist David Pogue reflects on his fortunate escape from a tragic dive to the Titanic wreck, realizing that the submersible he was meant to dive in was a ‘time bomb’
A journalist who rode on a submarine dive to the Titanic wreckage now feels like he “won Russian roulette” after the mission was abruptly aborted.
Science and technology writer David Pogue had the opportunity to dive to the wreck of the Titanic as part of a mission with OceanGate last year.
However, the dive was abruptly aborted due to two black floats becoming untied from the sub’s platform, which Mr Pogue considered a “dumb” reason to cancel at the time.
He said he was “disappointed and annoyed” when the dive to the Titanic wreck was aborted due what he saw as a trivial reason.
