 Novak Djokovic was booed and cupped his ear as he goaded Wimbledon spectators during Sunday's final against Carlos Alcaraz. The Serbian became angry at the start of the second set amid the animosity of the crowd on Centre Court, who were firmly behind underdog Alcaraz. Djokovic secured a break in game three and seemed to eyeball somebody in the crowd before roaring in their direction. He then saved break point in game four of the second set before cupping his ear to fans and waving his arm sarcastically as he went on to secure a hold. One spectator could be heard telling Djokovic to 'get on with it' due to the time he was taking to serve. Speaking before the final, former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash described Djokovic as a 'villain'. Djokovic was also booed during his semi-final win over Jannik Sinner with one fan screaming 'come on Rafa' in reference to his rival Rafael Nadal. The Serbian responded by sarcastically clapping the crowd and wiping away a fake tear after saving two set points in the third set on his way to victory. 'Novak Djokovic has been the villain,' Cash told the BBC. 'It's not because we don't like Novak but Federer, (Andy) Murray and Nadal have been there. 'They were the favourites so he was always the villain. He becomes the villain again because we want to see the new player (Carlos Alcaraz) win.'
