Sir Keir Starmer denies his team asked for meeting with Just Stop Oil

Labour leader denies stories the party is in contact with the extremist group, which he labelled ‘arrogant’

Sir Keir Stamer has insisted his team did not request a meeting with Just Stop Oil, as he branded the group “arrogant”.

The Labour leader denied reports his parliamentary private secretary, Jess Morden, had contacted the protest group to “come in and chat”.

The Mail on Sunday reported activists believed Ms Morden was “trying to sell us on how Labour is still driven” by environmental issues.

Just Stop Oil has picketed Labour headquarters over Sir Keir’s decision to abandon a pledge to spend £28 billion in each year of a Labour government on green energy infrastructure.
