Caerphilly and Cardiff both have locations closing, as well as others in Leighton, Ashton-under-Lyne and Salford. Dumfries, Hoddesdon, Norwich and more will be closing as well. The most recent announcement comes less than a month after Barclays revealed they were closing ten more branches. Data from the UK's largest cash machine network, LINK, keeps track of any planned branch closures across the UK. The majority of branches will close in September, with some shutting in August. Barclays has already announced more than 40 closures in 2023, with dozens more still to come. A Barclays spokesperson said: 'As visits to branches continue to fall, we need to adapt to provide the best service for all our customers. "Where there is no longer enough demand to support a branch, we maintain an in-person presence though our Barclays Local network, live in over 200 locations, based in libraries, town halls, mobile vans and our new banking pods." Many people, particularly the elderly, still rely on in-person services and the closures will make it more difficult for this demographic to access accessible services.
