Paola Deitan, a 29-year-old from Wiltshire, told The Guardian that she hoped to jet off to Greece for a holiday but has opted for slightly milder Barcelona instead. 'Obviously, I am worried about my health,' she told the newspaper. 'I don't want anything to happen to me while on holiday.' Justine Rush, 53, and her family are holidaying in Corfu, the Greek island currently being baked by temperatures in the high 30s. We've had to stay in our room most of the day,' she said. Flights and holiday packages are continuing as normal, according to trade association the Association of British Travel Agents. People have been told they can change their holiday plans but normal conditions apply such as cancellation fees. Brits braving the heat are being advised to stay hydrated, apply sunscreen and avoid the sun at around midday. The Foreign Office has recommended people check travel advice on the department's website. Extreme heat is increasingly becoming a summer stable in Europe, with some parts of southern Europe seeing heat waves as early as May this year.
