Mikel Arteta breaks silence as Arsenal finally sign Declan Rice after six-month chase

Declan Rice has completed his £105million British record transfer from West Ham to Arsenal, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta sealing a deal six months in the making

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hailed “tremendous” Declan Rice as the Gunners finally sealed his £105million transfer.

The England midfielder, 24, has inked a long-term deal at the Emirates following his British record transfer from West Ham, having been earmarked as the club’s No.1 summer target back in January.

The Hammers had earlier on Saturday announced that Rice had left the club, refusing to name his new employers in the process. Rice himself paid tribute to Hammers fans as he bid an emotional goodbye.

He now arrives in North London as the club’s third summer signing, following Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber, taking the club’s spending past the £200million mark, with Arteta looking to mount another title challenge next term.
