Questions over whether Archie and Lilibet will join in royal tradition this year

Archie and Lilibet are the King’s two youngest grandchildren With the King likely to follow his late mother’s summer plans by hosting extended members of the family at Balmoral, there is a possibility that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their two children could receive an invite. Due to this, questions have begun to arise as to whether four-year-old Prince Archie and two-year-old Princess Lilibet will have the opportunity to spend the summer alongside their UK relatives. The Sussexes’ two children have spent the vast majority of their lives in the US, with Lilibet having only visited her father’s home country once. Archie was not even one year-old when Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals and moved across the Atlantic. In 2019, as new parents, Meghan and Harry opted out of attending the trip with Archie who, at the time, was only a few months old. Shortly after they got married in May 2018, the couple reportedly enjoyed some time at Balmoral with the late Queen. Despite this, it remains unknown whether Archie and Lilibet have ever actually visited their great-grandmother’s summer home. According to reports, Archie and Lilibet visited the UK last June for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Although not seen out in public, they had reportedly travelled from the US with their parents. Just three months later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK without their children last September. The initial purpose of their trip was to attend the One Young World Summit in Manchester, however their visit was extended following the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II. If the family do not attend the summer plans, there is a possibility that they could travel over to the UK in November to celebrate the King’s 75th birthday.
