A suspect has been taken into custody reportedly in connection with the deaths of the ‘Gilgo Four’ – four women whose bodies were discovered along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach in Long Island
After more than a decade, police have finally arrested a suspect in relation to what became known as the Gilgo Beach murders – a series of unsolved murders from the Long Island area uncovered when remains were found in 2010.
There are 10 victims officially linked to the killings, carried out by a serial killer given the nicknames the Long Island Serial Killer, LISK, Gilgo Beach killer, Manorville Butcher and Craigslist Ripper. It’s believed the suspect taken into custody today, July 14, is being linked to what became known as the ‘Gilgo Four’ victims.
These victims were all found off Ocean Parkway, near Gilgo Beach in Long Island while searching for 23-year-old Shanna Gilbert who had mysteriously disappeared from the nearby Oak Beach gated community. The first body was found on December 11, 2010, almost 13 years ago.
There were few pieces of evidence released that related to the suspected perpetrator, but one item stood out. In 2019 a belt was found as part of the investigation.
