Foil surfer Nick Kapule encountered a massive 20-foot great white shark as he was surfing off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii
A foil surfer in Hawaii had a startling encounter with a 20-foot great white shark while training for a race.
Nick Kapule initially mistook the massive shadow for a whale but soon realized it was a shark when he saw its sharp tail fin while surfing off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii. He tried to maintain his composure and distance from the creature, fearing a fall from his foil surfboard.
Nick said that while he was foiling down the coast, he noticed a huge shadow about 20 feet long. Initially thinking it was a whale, he approached it out of curiosity.
However, upon closer inspection, he saw a sharp tail fin emerge from the water, realizing it was a shark. He described feeling chills and being scared, hoping not to fall off his foil surfboard.
