Aaron Rodgers doubles down on strong ‘Hard Knocks’ stance with New York Jets

Four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers joined the New York Jets in a blockbuster trade from the Green Bay Packers, meaning he will be involved in HBO’s Hard Knocks

Aaron Rodgers has re-iterated his strong position against Hard Knocks after his New York Jets were forced to be the subject of the pre-season docu-series.

The popular HBO show began back in 2001 and the Jets have now been selected to feature in its landmark 20th season. It is the second time Gang Green will be featured on Hard Knocks after their maiden appearance back in 2010, with head coach Rex Ryan navigating challenges – including cornerback Darrelle Revis’s contract holdout.

Under a formula developed several years ago, the teams that can be compelled to do Hard Knocks include those without a new head coach, those who have not been to the playoffs in either of the last two years and those that have not been the subject of the show for the last ten years. This left the Jets, the New Orleans Saints, Washington Commanders and Chicago Bears as options for 2023 – and New York have been selected, to the dismay of the organisation.

The upcoming 2023 season will be the first time Rodgers – a 10-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro – will be playing in another uniform in the NFL. On Thursday, the quarterback insisted the AFC East franchise would have preferred to avoid Hard Knocks duty.
