Neighbour of serial killer suspect’s chilling three-word assessment after arrest

Architect Rex Heuermann has been named as the suspect arrested in connection to the Gilgo Beach murders. Police swarmed his neighbourhood in Massapequa Park, Long Island

The neighbours of the New York architect arrested in connection to the Gilgo Beach murders have said they’re “not surprised” he’s been taken in.

Rex Heuermann, 59, was arrested outside his Manhattan office last night. His arrest is tied to the so-called “Gilgo Four,” the four women found wrapped in burlap in the opening days of the search in 2010.

A huge police presence was seen in the area at his home in Massapequa Park. A large law enforcement presence has also been spotted outside the courthouse in Riverhead, where the suspect is set to appear before a judge later.

One neighbour of Heuermann’s, who has lived in the area for 34 years, said she was shaken by the situation but said she’s “not surprised” he’s a suspect.
