Last night police reported finding human remains on the Southern State Parkway and some experts are linking this body to the arrest a suspect in connection with the Gilgo Beach murders
A driver in Long Island last night, July 13th, saw something while driving eastbound on the Southern State Parkway, so he got off at Exit 40 to get on the Robert Moses Causeway southbound and inspected the scene – finding something he knew was gruesome, the driver immediately called in the authorities.
Once the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) arrived on the scene, they confirmed it was human remains. While the body was sent out for testing, police haven’t publicly identified the victim and likely won’t until they manage to make contact with a family member, which could take time.
However, these remains have captured the interest of true crime enthusiasts following Rex Heuermann’s charges – though there has been no connection by officials.
Retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, speaking on Police Off The Cuff, a popular real-crime podcast, speculated on a link with the serial killer case.
