Meta’s war of words should be good for us all

Whichever way you look at it, the big tech platforms are important, not simply because of the technological sophistication they bring but, to take just one example, because of their role in defence and security, as the tech-driven war in Ukraine has clearly demonstrated. So when one of them releases a significant new product we should all sit up and take notice.

Threads, Meta’s rival to Twitter, has already been named the fastest-growing app in history, with 100 million users signed up in the first five days, faster than ChatGPT, which took two months to reach the same level.
