Weather UK: Met Office explains why there is so much rain this July

It’s not breaking news to reveal that the weather in the UK can be a bit unpredictable, to say the least.

With Summer officially beginning in late June, the UK initially saw scolding hot temperatures, with a heatwave that saw the mercury rising around the country and hosepipe bans even put in place in areas of the south.

However, despite temperatures remaining above average for most, some parts of the country have seen much more rainfall recently, with short and sharp showers making many of us confused about whether we should don a set of shorts and a vest or a full-length diving suit.

So, why have so many of us seen so much rain in a summer month?
