Driver fined £255 for stopping in a ‘no stopping’ zone to read the parking sign

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

A 75-year-old was handed a £255 fine after he stopped to read a car park sign for ‘under a minute’.

Andy Smith had driven two friends to East Midlands Airport as they were due to fly the following day.

He had planned to check in their baggage the night before and stay in the Leonardo Hotel to save time.

Mr Smith, who lives in Sheffield, entered the airport drop-off zone around 5pm in January this year and paid the £5 drop-off fee.
