 The release of the eagerly anticipated live-action Barbie movie is finally almost here and we are ready to paint the town pink with Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and co. Barbie follows Robbie's version of the doll as she suffers an identity crisis that leaves her questioning her world and her existence, ultimately leaving Barbie Land for an adventure in the real world. It's humour has already got a lot of fans talking, with recent teaser clips and revelations including a look at Gosling's power ballad-esque musical number Just Ken and John Cena in all of his 'Kenmaid' finery. With plenty of nods to Barbie's heritage as one of the most popular toys on the market for over 60 years, there are also generations of fans to appeal to. This has some wondering if the film will be suitable for children, toymaker (and film producer) Mattel's usual target market. Is the Barbie movie for kids? And of course, Barbie will certainly appeal to millennial women too, looking to escape to the nostalgia of their childhood – as well as possibly expecting something a little more sophisticated. Luckily, Robbie herself has confirmed that Barbie has been 'literally crafted to be for everyone' when it came to the debate over whether or not the upcoming blockbuster is suitable for kids.
