Christian Horner rubbishes Toto Wolff accusation with fresh dig at rival F1 chief

Red Bull chief Horner and Mercedes boss Wolff are at each others’ throats again, this time arguing publicly about the former’s concerns over the 2026 engine regulations

Christian Horner accused rival Formula 1 boss Toto Wolff of being out of touch with his own team’s engine development ahead of the 2026 rule changes.

The team principals, in charge of Red Bull and Mercedes respectively, have rarely seen eye to eye in recent years. And their latest public spat is over those new engine rules set to come into force.

Horner recently raised concerns over the 50/50 split between fuel and electric power. The worry, he claims, is that the power units could run out of power on longer straights, leaving the cars unable to run flat out.

Wolff’s response was to suggest that Horner is only complaining because he is worried that his team’s engine development isn’t going well. Red Bull’s 2026 engine will be the first created in-house at the new Powertrains facility.
