Red Bull's 2026 engine will be the first created in-house at the new Powertrains facility. "I think what frightens him more maybe is that his engine programme is not coming along, and then maybe he wants to kill it [the rules] that way," said the Austrian. "So you always have to question what's the real motivation to say something like that." Naturally, Horner has rejected that assertion. And he went on to bite back at the Mercedes chief by claiming that he too would be aware of the concern about how the engines will perform on track if he were paying closer attention to Mercedes' High Performance Powertrains division. Horner said: "I'm not sure how close Toto is to his engine business, because he's a customer, he's not involved in HPP's business formally. "The feedback that I'm getting from the business, and as you start to see the programme really coming to life and as the simulations firm up are some of the limitations. Which are inevitable.
