However, there are concerns a deal won't be done because of the 22-year-old's £30million price-tag, while the Lilywhites are now also facing competition for his signature from Liverpool. Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba has also been linked, but the Evening Standard now report that Colwill is being looked at as an alternative target should they fail to land Van de Ven. The 20-year-old performed very well on loan at Brighton last season and was a key part of the England side that won the U21 Euros this summer, with the young Lions winning the tournament without conceding a single goal. Such is his potential that Liverpool, City and Brighton have been keeping tabs on him throughout the transfer window, however Chelsea are determined to keep him.
