Ecommerce giant claims the law mischaracterises it as a ‘very large online platform’
Amazon has launched a legal challenge against the EU’s new Big Tech rules, accusing Brussels of “discriminatory” treatment.
The online retailer has filed a petition at the Court of Justice in Luxembourg arguing it has been wrongly categorized under the bloc’s Digital Services Act.
The legal challenge makes Amazon the first Silicon Valley company to formally challenge the new rules.
The Digital Services Act subjects some of the world’s biggest tech companies to strict rules requiring they remove disinformation, illegal content, and protect children. Failure to follow the rules risks potentially billions of pounds in fines.
