In a statement, the service said it had received “initial contact” from representatives of the broadcasters, but that “no formal referral or allegation has been made”. Officials will only move forward once they have received additional information, they added. The statement continued: “We will require additional information before determining what further action should follow.” The BBC had earlier said it was in touch with the service regarding the allegations, and officials have insisted they are handling the matter “seriously and with urgency”.
