Max Verstappen has outlined a bumper list of demands for Red Bull despite enjoying a commanding win at the British Grand Prix. The double world champion suggested Red Bull needed to improve in almost all areas despite cruising to his eighth victory of the campaign. The comments prompted laughs from Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton but the Dutchman quickly insisted he was ‘not kidding’. Verstappen made the admission after he was asked what he wanted from planned upgrades at the Hungarian Grand Prix. He replied: ‘Drag, low speed, medium speed, high speed, DRS effect, tyre wear all of these areas. Braking performance. I’m not kidding.’ Verstappen enjoyed an early scare with Norris getting a better start and taking the lead into turn one. After the race, Verstappen blamed wheelspin for the issue which almost cost him P2 as Oscar Piastri led a challenge into Copse corner. Norris held on during the early stages but was unable to make a serious challenge on the reigning champion. Red Bull boss Christian Horner admitted resources are already being piled into the development of next year’s RB20. But a new package is expected to be introduced at the Hungarian Grand Prix which will likely only increase the squad’s bumper advantage. Verstappen tried to justify the new parts as he warned Red Bull were not confident they could deliver a result in Budapest. Verstappen explained: ‘In Hungary the circuit is completely different. There we will put some upgrades on the car and hopefully they will all work well.’ Max Verstappen clinched victory at the British Grand Prix (Image: Getty) The Red Bull ace also highlighted the confused picture behind with McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston Martin all looking at challenging for a runners-up spot at different weekends. When asked if he had worked out the pecking order in the chasing pack, Verstappen admitted he was shocked by McLaren’s uptick in performance. He said: ‘I was definitely positively surprised by the pace of McLaren in the race. They were actually very quick compared to the other cars behind. But at the end of the day you just have to focus on yourself throughout the whole weekend and then find out what happens behind you. ‘Yeah positively surprised, let’s see what the next race will bring again.’
