North Korea claimed that American spy planes have repeatedly entered its airspace and warned that one might be shot down, in a statement released by the state’s news agency.
The Ministry of National Defence also said that the arrival of a US nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine off the Korean peninsula made a nuclear conflict more likely.
Reconnaissance planes had violated its airspace on its eastern coastline recently, an unnamed spokesperson said. “There is no guarantee that a shocking incident where a US air force strategic reconnaissance plane is shot down over the East Sea will not happen.”
