 The BBC has suspended a male staff member following allegations a presenter paid a teenager tens of thousands of pounds for sexually explicit images. It's been claimed that the unidentified individual paid a teenager more than £35,000 for the imagery, from when the youngster was 17 years old. The now-20-year-old's mother said that the money funded their child's drug addiction, while she revealed that she allegedly saw a picture of the well-known BBC star in their underwear. 'This is a complex and fast moving set of circumstances and the BBC is working as quickly as possible to establish the facts in order to properly inform appropriate next steps. It is important that these matters are handled fairly and with care.' The spokesperson stressed that the BBC has 'been clear' that 'if – at any point – new information comes to light or is provided to us, this will be acted upon appropriately and actively followed up'.
