 A desperate mum was forced to drop her baby from a fourth floor apartment as a fire ravaged the building. Shocking footage showed the moment she threw the six-week-old child from the window to a group of people below holding out bed sheets to break the fall. The terrifying incident happened at a residential block in Yongjia County, Wenzhou, in Zhejiang Province, China. Thick smoke can be seen pouring from the window behind the mother who had flagged down passers-by on the street. She tossed sheets down to the group, who then spread them out and held on tightly to create a softer landing. In the video, the mum is seen dangling the baby out of the window before she drops it at least 30ft onto the sheet below. Firefighters rushed to the scene of the blaze after it suddenly broke out on Huancheng North Road on Wednesday. Fire crews were able to also save the mother, grandmother and several other children and adults from the burning building. The local fire department said the fire started on the first floor and quickly spread throughout the building, reports Chinese news outlet CTWANT. Crews also said black smoke was swirling through the stairwell – making it difficult to rescue those trapped inside.
