Lewis Hamilton faced some difficult struggles for Mercedes in qualifying as he bids to win a record ninth British Grand Prix at Silverstone, but he’ll have to find a way past Max Verstappen
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will start the British Grand Prix in pole position after finishing fastest in qualifying ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris.
The F1 Championship leader is bidding to continue his dominance this season at Silverstone on Sunday and will do so from the top of the grid, with Aston Martin’s Oscar Piastri in third and Ferrari pair Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in fourth and fifth.
Lewis Hamilton could only manage a seventh place finish while his Mercedes team-mate George Russell is in sixth.
Hamilton was second after Q2 following a problematic first qualifying period. But it was Norris who emerged as the fastest Brit on his home track.
