NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Ukraine is now thought to have more tanks in its arsenal than Russia while narrowing gaps in howitzers and multiple-launch rocket systems, according to new data.
In a dramatic reversal of fortune, Kyiv’s delivery of hundreds of heavy weapons from its western allies in recent months has resulted in a shift in the balance of power, as Ukraine’s gains have outpaced Russia’s losses.
Citing tracking databases from a number of open-source resources, Bloomberg reports that Russia’s tank fleet has been effectively halved since the start of their invasion, dropping from 3,400 to around 1,400.
Meanwhile Ukraine has received 471 new tanks from its allies this year with a further 286 on the way, bolstering its pre-war fleet of 987 to over 1,500.
