Toddler, 1, dies after parents ‘leave her in hot car overnight’ as they party

Joel and Jazmine Rondon have been arrested and charged with the child’s murder after they allegedly left her in the car overnight and she died of hyperthermia

A couple has been charged with manslaughter after their 18-month-old daughter died from being left in a car.

Joel and Jazmine Rondon, both 33, attended a Fourth of July party with their three children and returned home at 3am, police said. The mother reportedly took two of the children inside, assuming the father had brought in the toddler. However, the father assumed the mother had taken the child out.

They went to bed without realizing the toddler was still in the car. The child was found unresponsive in her car seat the next morning and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as hyperthermia due to being left in the car. Both parents tested positive for marijuana and alcohol, while the father also tested positive for meth. They have been arrested and face charges.
