Price of beer, wine and spirits to rise as Jeremy Hunt axes alcohol duty freeze

The price of alcohol will go up next year after Chancellor Jeremy Hunt confirmed he would be scrapping plans to freeze tax on booze in his Autumn Statement today

Brits face paying more for alcohol next year, the Government has confirmed.

In September, former Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng announced plans to freeze alcohol tax from February 2023.

But the new Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, confirmed today he would scrap this freeze in his Autumn Statement.

All booze will now be taxed in the following way, based on strength.
