It comes just three months after they finished as runners-up on Love Island on August 1, 2022. Gemma said it was a "difficult decision" to end her romance with Luca who she was last pictured with at the start of November 2022. She announced the break-up news on Instagram, and wrote: "I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for both of us right now. "Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning and I want to thank you for your continued support as a new chapter starts." Following the news, Luca also took to social media himself to make a statement to the former couple's fans. Luca said: "Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup." He continued: "I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways." The reality TV star told fans that the pair have made "amazing memories" which he will "treasure", and he thanked everyone for their support since coming out of the Love Island villa.
