There are an estimated 177 billionaires in the UK – with their combined wealth rising by more than £55bn on the previous year.
It is just another sign of how the Tories seem hell-bent on creating a class of the super-rich predominantly off the backs of the working class.
It’s perverse – and it must stop.
And today, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has a perfect chance to begin to realign our economy, when the government presents its Autumn Statement, by offering a package of support for the most vulnerable, and finally announcing a ‘wealth tax’ to tackle assets, not just income.
